Educational diversity is the watchword in Racine County — the county is widely recognized as having outstanding schools. Many innovative state-wide models have been developed in the county’s school districts.From day care through high school graduation, schools here offer academic excellence, a variety of extra-curricular and sports activities, and teachers who truly care about their students. The Racine Unified School District is the largest district in the county, including the entire area east of Interstate 94, and made up of city, suburban and rural areas.

A number of alternatives in education are available in Racine Schools, including progressive academic programs, alternative academic programs, computer immersion programs and year round school. Racine County also offers Montessori, parochial and a variety of private schools, including the Prairie School, an independent school for preschool through grade 12, which has a diverse student body and a college preparatory curriculum.

In addition to excellent schools from the preschool through high school, Racine County also offers outstanding post-secondary schools. Gateway Technical College offers an associate degree, diploma and certificate programs in a wide variety of educational areas. Carthage College is a Lutheran college of the arts and sciences, with a tradition of excellence in education. The UW-Parkside is a four year campus of the University of Wisconsin system offering undergraduate courses, the MBA and a masters in applied molecular biology.
